Fee-Only Money Management and Wealth Management in New Orleans, LA

Investing Built to Manage Risk Through Every Market

Regatta builds and manages custom portfolios for pre-retirees, with close attention to the downside risk that matters most as retirement nears.

What Is Money Management?

Money management, sometimes called investment management or wealth management, is the ongoing work of building and overseeing your investment portfolio. It covers how your money is allocated, which investments you hold, how risk is managed, and how the portfolio adapts over time.

At Regatta, money management is never separate from your plan. Your portfolio exists to carry out the goals we defined together, from retirement income to long-term growth.

Why Downside Risk Management Comes First

For someone still decades from retirement, a market drop is uncomfortable but recoverable. For someone five years out, the same drop can reshape their entire retirement. This is the risk that worries our clients most, and it is the risk we focus on.
A portfolio that loses less in a downturn has less ground to make up when markets recover.
Our approach gives real weight to managing volatility and limiting large losses, because preserving what you have built is as important as growing it.

How We Manage Your Investments

Your allocation is built around your goals, your timeline, and your comfort with risk. We do not use one-size-fits-all models.
We give clients access to a range of carefully reviewed investment managers, rather than limiting you to a single in-house product.
Markets do not wait, so we watch your portfolio continuously and adjust as conditions and your needs change.
We weigh the tax impact of investment decisions, including gain and loss management and where assets are held.
You receive regular updates, including weekly market commentary that explains what is happening without the jargon.

Because Regatta is fee-only, we earn no commissions and sell no products. We are paid based on the assets we manage, which means our success is tied directly to yours.
There is no incentive to trade unnecessarily or recommend a product because it pays us. We believe that is how an investment relationship should work, and it is one reason many clients have stayed with us for decades.

Money Management FAQs

What is the difference between wealth management and financial planning?

Financial planning sets the strategy and goals. wealth management carries that strategy out through your investment portfolio. The two work well together, which is why Regatta provides both. See our Financial Planning page for more info.

We give particular attention to downside risk, meaning the size of losses during market declines. By building diversified, custom portfolios and monitoring them continuously, we work to limit large losses while still pursuing long-term growth. No strategy removes risk entirely, and we are always direct with clients about that.
A real person. Regatta is small by design, so you work directly with the advisor managing your portfolio, someone who knows your name, your plan, and your goals. Technology supports our research and monitoring, but every decision about your money is made by a person, not a model.
We generally work with clients who have at least $500,000 in investable assets, with exceptions for family members of current clients. This allows us to give every portfolio careful, individual attention.

Regularly. Along with scheduled reviews, clients receive weekly market commentary, and you can reach your advisor whenever you have a question. Our team aims to return calls within 30 minutes whenever possible.
